Shenandoah River Raymond R, “Andy” Guest State Park
Warren County, eight miles south of Front Royal and 15 miles north of Luray. Off Rt. 340 in Bentonville.
The Shenandoah Riverkeeper and the Shenandoah River State Park joined forces to bring you the Shenandoah Riverfest, an unforgettable day of river fun, family activities, live music and food!
We want to thank the hundreds of people who came out to the 2012 Shenandoah Riverfest It was a beautiful Saturday at the Shenandoah River State Park. At one point, Shenandoah Riverkeeper Jeff Kelble walked along the river and counted more than 150 people swimming, wading, fishing and paddling in the pools and riffles of the river. Many others were enjoying the float, bike rides, arts and crafts, BBQ, live music, and the many critters, including the alligator.
And don’t forget the Raffle! A canoe, kayaks, weekend get-aways and other prizes were won by lucky Riverfest guests. We had a great number of partners, exhibitors and sponsors who helped make the Riverfest a success – including Friends of the Shenandoah River State Park, Downriver Canoe Company, Front Royal Canoe Company, Shenandoah River State Park, Front Royal Visitors Center, 95.3 “The River”, Skyline Canoe Company, and many more! Many people asked about the fate of Obie the barn owl who flew up into one of the tall ash trees. We are happy to report that at about dusk Obie flew back to his roost -- some say it’s because his belly was empty!
