Join the Anacostia Watershed Society and other local organizations as we work to cleanup the Anacostia River and its tributaries in honor of Earth Day. Last year, more than 2,000 volunteers helped us remove more than 42 tons of trash from the river!
Cleanup: 9:00am - 12:00pm
More than two dozen sites throughout the Anacostia Watershed in Washington, DC, and Montgomery and Prince George's Counties in Maryland, with more still being added.
If you are interested in leading a cleanup site, please contact Membership and Volunteer Coordinator Maddie Koenig at 301-699-6204 ext. 109 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
Celebration: 12:00pm – 2:00pm
This year the Celebration will be held in RFK parking lot #6 (right near the bridge that takes you to Kingman and Heritage Islands). There is plenty of parking on site, and it is Metro accessible (Stadium-Armory Station, Orange and Blue lines). The celebration will feature notable speakers, live music by local reggae band Proverbs, as well as vendor and organizational tables -- so you can check out what other cool environmental things are going on in the DC metro area. Also, did we mention there will be free food and drinks? Graciously prepared by our partner, Seafarer's Yacht Club, this is just our way of saying "THANKS!"
